Some idea of what to build to start your city for future needs. There are many ways to construct your city so the choice is yours but if you make mistakes there is a lot of work to do to change things

workshop
forge

11 barracks
Once your cities are fully constructed to the full level you will remove the stable, workshop and forge to make extra barracks. You also keep the market place in 1 city only and they can be demolished from ather cities for extra barracks.
Resource Fields. these are a real problem at first as you need so much building material. If you spent the initial $35 you wall have a rank of captain and title of baronet. I am talking about building in the 3 cities you can have as a baronet. If you have not spent the money then you will have a lot more problems and will be constantly short of resources.

I build city 3 on a lvl 5 flat so that when I get to the stage of using npc cities for resources I can abandon it and it will then be a level 5 npc city. Do minimal building in this city as it is abandoned later. You could keep it and demolish all the farms and quarries but it is faster to just build a new city. Of course you may be able to take a city from another player. I have found that other players start with so many mistakes that taking cities for this reason is a total waste of time.
